Health Partners Plans’ Donovan: We’re Nearing Tipping Point in Value-Based Purchasing

Health Partners Plan Network Management Vice President Brian Donovan tells RevCycleIntelligence believes we’re nearing a tipping point in value-based purchasing.

Donovan says despite “relatively low” adoption rates across the country, “almost all health plans and providers are doing work in this space … .”

“I can see it approaching maybe 50 percent for most health plans within the next five years if we consider their entire book of business,” he said.

A recent survey commissioned by Capital One found that a majority of health care organizations (about 62 percent) are only just beginning to move toward value-based care models.
