A White House official tells Politico that the Trump administration and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s staff are in talks about legislation aimed at reducing high drug prices.

“Lowering the cost of prescription drugs is a shared common interest, and those conversations will continue,” the official said.

Henry Connelly, a spokesman for Pelosi, tells CNBC that “staff-level discussions” are focused on cutting drug prices, “but they aren’t negotiations.”

“House Democrats promised the American people we’d take bold action to lower prescription drug prices, and that’s what we’re going to do,” he said.
