Mayo Clinic seeks a Health Services Researcher or Health Economist with a PhD in a field relevant to health services research (i.e. public health, social science, health research methodology, health services research, health economics), or an M.D. with additional training or experience in one or more of these areas for a faculty position with significant and sustained institutional funding.

The Health Services Researcher is expected to possess a broad understanding of one or more of the following areas:

  • Comparative effectiveness research
  • Patient-centered outcomes research
  • Implementation science
  • Performance and quality measurement
  • Qualitative or mixed-methods research
  • Knowledge translation (including shared decision making)

The candidate will also have strong methodological skills in experimental and observational designs, intervention research, survey methodology, qualitative methods, or statistical analysis. The ability to develop, implement and promote research activities affecting patient care and involving multiple stakeholders in a rapidly growing and changing environment is required. Specific experience and national recognition as an expert in the delivery of healthcare research, and national recognition as an expert preferred. The candidate must possess experience directing research projects, collaborating with others in a multidisciplinary setting, securing extramural funding and a strong publication record. Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
